Privacy policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

Ranger is a Chrome extension built by Covered Bridge that helps screen reader users navigate websites that are hard to use with assistive technology. This page explains exactly what Ranger sees on your computer, what it sends elsewhere, and what it does NOT do.

What Ranger reads from the pages you visit

When you focus a button, link, or form control on a webpage, Ranger looks at:

Ranger only reads this information for the element you are currently focused on. It does not crawl the page in the background. It does not read every element. It does not capture passwords, credit card numbers, or form values you have typed.

What Ranger sends to a language model

To decide whether an element is clearly labelled and reachable, Ranger sends the information above to a language model API. The API is operated by DeepInfra, Inc. Ranger sends only the per-element information described above plus a fixed instruction prompt. Ranger does not send your browsing history, your tabs, your cookies, your stored passwords, or anything else from your browser.

The API call is made directly from your browser to DeepInfra using a Ranger account configured by Covered Bridge. DeepInfra's privacy policy governs what they do with that data on their end; we have configured the request so that no per-user identifiers are attached.

What Ranger stores

Ranger uses Chrome's storage API to keep:

Nothing is persisted off-device. There is no Ranger backend that holds your data. Clearing the extension's storage erases everything Ranger remembers.

What Ranger never does

Changes to this policy

If we change how Ranger reads or sends data, we will update this page and roll the version number on the extension. Material changes will be called out in the extension's “What's new” panel.
